Floyd Schofield

Schofield and Kalkreuth Come up Big in vegas

Two familiar Texans came up big in Las Vegas this weekend as 21-year-old "Kid Austin" Floyd Schofield won via a fifth round Disqualification in a bout that his opponent Esteuri Suero appeared as if he was looking to get him some DQs and eventually got what he wanted. Also, Dallas, area native Tristan Kalkreuth scored a vicious second-round KO of Marquice Weston. Kalkrreuth, a 22-year-old cruiserweight prospect, improved his record to 13-0 (10) in a scheduled eight-round bout. Kalkreuth ended the night early when he scored with a brutal left hand that put Weston down and out just past the midway point of the round. Kalkreuth sealed the deal and stuck the landing on one of his vintage backflips.

In the evening's co-main event, Kid Austin was looking to start 2024, where he left off in 2023, scoring sensational KOs. Suero was looking to make things dirty and get under the skin of Schofield. A head butt reddened the eye of the Texan in the opening round. In the second round, a shoulder from Suero to the midsection of Schofield cost the Dominican one point in the second. The dirty tactics didn't stop there. Schofield buckled his man with a left hook in the fourth. With Kid Austin clearly in control of the fight, Suero was looking for a way out and threw the shoulder yet again and then hit Schofield on the break to seal the deal and get the disqualification he was looking for. Throughout the 5 round affair, the 21-year-old stayed calm and in control, he never got frazzled as Schofield moved his record to 17-0 (12).

Kid Austin and DFG Come Up Clutch in Clutch City

Two of the Lone Star State's brightest prospects showed out last night in Houston. "Kid Austin'' Floyd Schofield of Austin, and Kileen Native, "DFG '' Darius Fulghum both came up clutch in H-Town on the Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Durate undercard. The main card was kicked off by 27-year-old Fulghum, who blasted out Pachino Hill in just two rounds. Fulghum improved his record to 9-0 (9). DFG, a super middleweight, does not describe himself as a puncher but has been able to stop all his opponents inside the distance. The Killeen native had a brilliant amateur career and is ready for a massive step up in 2024. He recently signed with Golden Boy and could be prepared for a fight with Munguia, who has sold well in Texas multiple times. With another win or two against increasingly difficult opposition, Fulghum could be ready for Munguia, and it would be a massive draw anywhere in the Lone Star State.

In the evening's co-main event, Schofield continued to show why he was our 2022 Prospect of the Year and why he could be closing in on something massive in 2024. Kid Austin moved to 16-0 (12). The 21-year-old from the republic's Capital City scored four knockdowns in the opening round to stop Tijuana’s Ricardo Lopez 1:51 into the opening round. Lopez opted to stand in front of the blue-chip prospect, who connected with a left hook that dropped the Mexican less than a minute into the bout. Schofield dropped Lopez again with the left hook 20 seconds later and the fight should have been stopped there. However, Lopez was allowed to continue, and the Texan unleashed a barrage of pin-point power shots that dropped Lope two more times until referee Joe Rodriguez finally waved off the massacre and gave Schofield his 12th knockout. Golden Boy promotes both Schofield and former world champ Jo Jo Diaz and may look to put each other in the ring together early in 2024.

Schofield Remains Undefeated, Esparza Picks Up Third Flyweight Strap in San Antonio

At just 20 years old, Floyd Schofield got a huge opportunity to substitute in for Vergil Ortiz as the main event at the At&t Center in San Antonio. He was not about to let opportunity was not about to slip away with just a so-so performance. "Kid Austin" was going to fight and, was going to make the most of this opportunity. Schofield got to work early, staggering Haskell Rhodes in the first with a rapid-fire combination landing on the button. He did the same in the second. It appeared his opponent was a sitting duck, and it was going to be a short night. However, Rhodes was determined to survive the night, and beginning in round three, he went into survival mode. Schofield, who was levels ahead, slammed on the gas. A right hand buckled the outmatched opponent 45 seconds into the third. It became obvious immediately that Rhodes was in over his head as the Austinite was sharp and active. Landing with laser-like precision with the left hook that snapped his opponent's head back again with under a minute to go in the third. By round four Rhodes was clearly fixed on simply surviving and had given up trying to win. The end looked to be drawing in quickly in the seventh as Schofield unleashed a left hook that dropped his opponent. Rhodes beat the count but was quickly planted back on the canvas by a whirlwind of power shots. Rhodes remained on a knee and appeared to be finished. However, he decided at the last possible second to stand up and continue fighting. The onslaught carried over into the next round. Schofield pushed to close the show with a knockout. Pressing his wounded foe. A left hook caught Rhodes flush again and again dropped Rhodes, who once again beat managed to be at the count. The ninth saw a nasty cut open up below the eye of Schofield, who was immediately taken to the doctor to have the cut examined. Schofield told the doctor not to stop the fight, and the doctor obliged, allowing Schofield to go out and finish the 10-rounder and take a completely lopsided UD by scores of 100-87X3. Following the fight, the victorious Texan said, "I ain't gonna lie, the man can take a hell of a punch. I didn't think he was gonna survive the first knockdown... I want Keyshawn Davis, send the contract." Following the fight, Golden Boy President Eric Gomez and Golden Boy Business Partner Bernard Hopkins expressed interest in making a Schofield-Jo Jo Diaz fight for the fourth quarter of this year.

Also on the card was fan-favorite women's unified flyweight champ Marlen Esparza of Houston. Esparza successfully picked up her third flyweight strap by taking a majority decision over Gabriela Alaniz of Argentina, who entered the night as the WBO flyweight champ. Alaniz was hyper-aggressive and fired over 600 punches, but Esparza's reflexes and defensive skills forced Alniz to misfire on about 80% of those. The Houstonite made Alaniz pay early and often with counter right hands that landed with accuracy. Alaniz did her best impression of the Energizer bunny and kept going and going and without tiring, and by the eighth round seemed to have evened up the fight up on the cards and had Esparza throwing limited shots and just one at a time. With the momentum shifting into the hands of the Argentine, Esparza found a second wind. She shifted her attack downstairs and worked the body of the WBO champ, slowing her down and setting up a big 10th for the Texan. That final rally sealed the deal. Esparza took a majority decision by scores of 97-93, an outrageous 99-91, and Lisa Giampa handed in an even draw of 95-95. It appears Esparza will get her wish and could land IBF flyweight Champ Arely Mucino. Golden Boy promotes both, Esparza and Mucino, and the fight seems likely for this year. Esparza has prioritized unifying all the belts at 122 over exacting a controversial loss to Seniesa Estrada.

Schofield Gets Call to Headline AT&T Center in San Antonio

On Thursday afternoon, 20-year-old "Kid Austin" Floyd Schofield got the biggest opportunity of his professional life. He is set to headline the AT&T Center, the home of the San Antonio Spurs, Tim Duncan, Gregg Popovic, and now Victor Wembanyama. However, before Wemby gets to headline the AT&T Center, the Kid from Austin, just an hour away from his hometown, will headline that venue. The opportunity came as a shock to "Kid Austin," who read it in a Boxing Scene article, just like fight fans around the world. Unfortunately, Vergil Ortiz was forced out of the fight due to medical reasons. Schofield then received a phone call confirming that he was, indeed, headlining the AT&T Center. Still in shock that he was getting the call to headline, Schofield said, "No way! You're lying?" No lies were detected, and Schofield will battle Haskell Rhodes, 28-4-1 (13), in Saturday's main event. It's a good litmus test for the 20-year-old. Rhodes who now lives and trains in Las Vegas, has been in with world title holders and elite-level fighters like Sergey Lipinets, Edner Cherry, and Jason Sosa. Rhodes was stopped by Jason Sosa back in 2019, then took a three-and-a-half-year hiatus from the sport before stepping back in the ring in March and outpointing well-known journeymen Raymond Chacon in Oklahoma City.

This won't be the first time Schofield has gotten to headline a card. It won't even be the first time he's headlined in San Antonio. The Austinite has headlined several Davies Entertainment Cards at their local venue and has headlined a Golden Boy Fight Night Live Card. The Golden Boy prospect-heavy series. In October, Schofield destroyed Daniel Rosas in less than one round when he was given the opportunity to be the main event in Indio, California. Saturday at the AT&T Center is simply a far bigger stage against a much more rigid opponent. A win Saturday night gets the Austinite in the world title picture at lightweight. Currently, all the titles in the division are held by Devin Haney. Haney and Schofield have a highly discussed past. A past that includes a famed sparring session where multiple observers noted that the Kid from Austin got the best of it and had Haney wobbled. That's the fight Schofield wants in the future, and wants it with Haney at his best, no excuses! "If he's not comfortable at 135 and he needs to go up. I don't want to beat him, and he says he shoulda fought at 140, and hes drained. I dont want no excuses! When I say I beat you, I beat the best version of you."

Schofield also acknowledges that Haney probably should move up to 140 because he may have outgrown the lightweight division. If Haney chose to do that, all of the current lightweight belts would become vacant, and Schofield would be on a fast track for one of those belts. However, he needs to take care of business tomorrow. A w in tomorrow would move his record from 14-0 (11) to 15-0 and would put Schofield at 3-0 for the year. He has wins over Alberto Mercado in January and Jesus Valentin in April on the Tank Davis-Ryan Garcia card. Upon speaking to Golden Boy President Eric Gomez, they would like to bring Schofield back late this year for a possible showdown with either former Olympian and 130-pound world champion and fan favorite JoJo Diaz or fellow Texan Hector Tanajara of San Antonio. A win there certainly fast-tracks Schofield to a world title fight.

Vergil Ortiz out again, San Antonio Card Will Still Go On.

The Eimantas Stanionis VS Eimantas Stanionis WBA "Regular" World Title fight seems to be cursed. The fight, was scheduled for Saturday, July 8th, at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, is off again. This is the third time the bout was pushed back and maybe off altogether. It was originally scheduled for March 28th. However, Stanioins had to pull out due to appendicitis. That required an emergency appendectomy. The bout was rescheduled for April 29th in Arlington, and that fight date was pushed back, when Ortiz, a Grand Prairie native, suffered a flare-up of his previously diagnosed rhabdomyolysis. The fight was then moved to Saturday in Alamo City and is now possibly off. The Texan, was hospitalized after passing out.

Ortiz's promoter, Oscar de la Hoya, expressed concern for his best fighter saying, "This is the third time we are very concerned." However insisted that Ortiz was "OK" and was told that "Doctors said he will make a full recovery and fight again." The promoter also suggested that his undefeated welterweight maybe moving-up from 147 pounds to 154 pounds.

The card will still go on and is loaded with Texas talent. It will now be headlined by 20-year-old phenom Floyd Schofield of Austin, 14-0 (8), who will battle with Haskell Rhodes in a 10-round lightweight affair. Also, Houston native and unified Flyweight champ Marlen Esparza will look to add another strap when she battles Gabriela Celeste Alaniz of Argentina. Texas-based prospect Tristian Kalkreuth 10-1 (7) of Duncanville, and Darius Fulghum, 5-0 (5) of Houston, will all be featured on the Texas-centric card.

Two Top Texas Prospects Return on Davis VS Garcia Card in Las Vegas

The Tank Davis VS Ryan Garcia card is the biggest boxing event of the year, and the card will feature two of the brightest prospects from the Lone Star State. A pair of Future world champions will take the stage. 20-year-old phenom Floyd "Kid Austin '' Schofield will be in the ring for the second time this year as he puts his 13-0 (10) record on the line. He will battle with rugged Mexican veteran Jesus Valentin Leon 23-1-2 (19), a veteran of 26 pro bouts. Leon should offer a solid test for the 2022 Prospect of the Year. Leon has won seven fights in a row. Six of those wins came inside the distance, and in five of them, Leon stopped his opponent within two rounds. His one loss was back in 2018 when Leon was just 18 years old. He was stopped by Jesus Raul Hernandez Melgar, In the sixth round of a bout that took place in Corregidora, Queretaro, Mexico. Schofield last fought in January and scored a one-sided beatdown unanimous decision victory over Alberto Mercado at the YouTube Theatre in Inglewood, California. He dropped Mercado in the second round and won every single round in a spectacular performance.

Also on the card is 21-year-old KO artist Tristian "Sweet T" Kalkreuth of Duncanville. The North Texas native who has campaigned at heavyweight and cruiserweight will move back down to a more natural 175-pound limit and battle with Jaime Solorio 12-5-2 (9), of Mexico. Solorio went the distance with the likes of Niko Vladez and D'Mitrius Ballard. Sweet T is coming off more than a year layoff. He last fought on the Ryan Garcia-Emmauel Tagoe card at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Kalkreuth scored an unforgettable second knockout of seven-time Columbian national champ Santander Silgado. Kalkreuth sports a 9-1 (7) record and turned pro back in 2019 on the undercard of Vergil Ortiz-Antonio Oroaco card at the Verizon Theatre, in Grand Prairie, Kalkreuth scored a first-round knockout and celebrated the victory with his signature back flip.

Also on the card is Jose Charles, who hails from Tamaulipas, Mexico, but has trained with famed trainer James Payton in the Rio Grande Valley and now trains in San Antonio with Chato Martinez. Charles, 20-3-1(12) last fought at the Payne Arena in Hidalgo and dropped a decision to former world champion Austin Trout. He will battle touted PBC prospect Vito Mielnicki Jr 14-1 (9) in 10 round Jr Middleweight affair.

Kid Austin Shines in California Moves to 13-0

2022's Prospect of the Year is off to a great start in 2023. Floyd "Kid Austin" Schofield, of Austin, took another massive step towards becoming the first world champion from the Capital City.

20-year-old Schofield put together a dominant performance to go 10-rounds for the first time in his career and pick up the unanimous decision over Alberto Mercado in Golden Boy's co-main event on Saturday night at the YouTube Theatre in Inglewood, California, to move his record to 13-0 (10).

Kid Austin scored a second-round knockdown and was robbed of at least one more knockdown in the eighth on hod way to picking up the 100-89 decision on all three cards. After a measured but dominant opening round, Schofield got going in the second. Dropping his man with a straight right hand and remained in control throughout the remainder of the fight. Landing with thudding right hands and would switch in and out of the southpaw stance and back into the conventional stance. Opening a huge lead on the cards and recognizing that Mercado wasn't going to be an easy out and was not willing to engage and completely content on simply going to the distance. Schofield stopped pressing on the gas, full throttle, and put on a boxing clinic during the second half of the fight.

The Austinite badly hurt and wobbled his overmatched opponent with a left hook that landed flush on the jaw of Mercado and put him down, but the knockdown was ruled a push. Schofield stayed calm and in control dominating the final six minutes. Landing flush one-twos that snapped the head back of his fleeing opponent, who was able to run out the clock and make the final bell. Something that Schofield hasn't done in his last six fights when Houston native Darryl Hayes went all six rounds with Schofield in 2021.

Kid Austin Shines in Indio in Golden Boy Main Event

The Future of Texas Boxing is in great hands as another unbeaten prospect surges up the rankings. "Kid Austin" Floyd Schofield, fighting out of Austin, made his main event debut Thursday in Indio, California. He officially signed with Golden Boy Promotions this summer after his spectacular performance on the Ortiz-McKinson card in Fort Worth. He also has a co-promotional deal with San Antonio-based promoter Davies Entertainment. Kid Austin made a spectacular debut and did not disappoint the new company in his fight as an official part of the team. The 20-year lightweight predicted a first-round knockout and did just that. Completely overwhelming the outmatched Daniel Rosas in just 97 seconds.

Just a minute into the bout Kid Austin backed his man into the ropes and dropped Rosas momentarily, but was ruled a slip and not a knockdown. However, it was obvious at that point that Rosas had nowhere to go and it was just a matter of time. Schofield picked up the onslaught once Rosas got u, and continued the assault. Attacking with head and body shots, driving Rosas back into the ropes again. Schofield set him up whim with the jab, then landed a thudding right hand, and followed it up with a well-placed left hook that knocked Rosas down and out. Giving the Austinite the 12th consecutive win and 10th stoppage to start his young and emerging career.

The youth movement in Texas boxing is on a whole another level. In addition to WBC Super Flyweight Champ 22-Year-Old Bam Rodriguez who has taken the world by storm and should win Fighter of the Year for 2022, there's a 17-year-old phenom, 2-0 bantamweight prospect Jesus "Panterita'' Martinez of Del Rio. Now Schofield is taking the boxing world by storm! The future of boxing is Texas!

Schofield also has an excellent chance to become the first world champion from Austin. The Capital City has produced plenty of good fighters James Kirkland, Casey Ramos, Kurtiss Colvin, and others but none ahve gotten all the way to the top of the mountain. Schofield certainly seems to be headed to the top of that mountain and likely in the very near future and in multiple divisions.

Schofield Inks Co-Promotional Deal With Golden Boy; Will Headline Oct. 20th Card

It has been quite a month for the 19-year-old who goes by the nickname "Kid Austin". Floyd Schofield III scored a sensational stoppage of Rodrigo Guerrero, a veteran of over 40 fights who had more knockouts than Schofield had total fights, on the opening portion of the undercard of Ortiz-McKinson at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth earlier this month to move his record to 11-0 (9). He signed a Co- promotional deal with Golden Boy. Meaning the blue-chip prospect is represented by both Davies Entertainment and Golden Boy.

His promotional companies have gone to work for the 19-year-old from Austin. He will headline a Golden Boy Fight Night Live card on October 20th in Indio, California. Golden Boy uses The Fight Night Live series to show off their elite-level prospects. Fighters like Vergil Ortiz of Grand Prarie and WBA Super flyweight Champ Joshua Franco of San Antonio were featured on the series earlier in their careers.

There is a lot of hype around Schofield. Former WBA 140-pound World champion Mario Barrios said, "kid is real fast" to his co-promoter Cameron Davies who was asked how far Schofield could go and if he could see him becoming a world champ. Davies laughed and said, "He can be one of the all-time greats!"

The young Austin native has shown there is quite a bit of substance to back up the hype. In his three fights so far in 2022, he has scored a first-round knockout in February to capture an ABF lightweight title. He followed that up with a stoppage victory over "Fort Worth Wolf" Tony Lopez, a rugged veteran who has wins over the likes of Fernando Garcia and Isaac Torres, in May, and then put on the sensational eye-opening performance over Guerrero in August.

The undefeated youngster remained humble in describing the recent series of events “I am at a loss for words...this is a dream come true. My dad always told me this was all going to happen. To see it really happen is beyond words. Now I have to do my part and win.”

Kid Austin’s Star Making Performance

From homeless to Golden Boy's next golden boy, "Kid Austin" Floyd Schofield has had an incredible journey in his 19 years on earth. Recently having signed a co-promotional deal with Golden Boy, Schofield had a large crowd gathered at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, excited to see if "Kid Austin'' had substance behind all the hype. From the infamous Devin Haney Sparring session to his management team and Dad saying he can be "one of the best ever" to world champions who are super impressed by his speed, skills, and power. Schofield had a lot to live up to in his first fight with Golden Boy, his opponent was the rugged Rodrigo Guerrero. A Rugged opponent from Mexico City, Mexico with more KO victories than Schofield has fought.

Schofield certainly delivered for the packed house in The Texan's home state and exceeded expectations. A mesmerizing barrage of power shots staggered Guerrero in the opening round, letting the Capacity Crowd in Fort Worth know that "Kid Austin had arrived. The Athletic 19-year old from Austin, Texas, showed uncanny athleticism and skills in destroying his veteran opponent of over 40-fights. Dazzling footwork kept his overmatched opponent off balance all night long. After a debatable knockdown in the third that put Guerrero on the canvas at the end of the third. Schofield picked up and removed any questions about the first knockdown and scored another in the fourth. A lightning-quick combination by Schofield capped off by a right hand put Guerrero down on the canvas with just about 10 seconds remaining in the fourth. The Texas native again hurt his opponent again with a five-punch combination against the ropes. The corner stepped in and stopped the bout in between the fifth and sixth round. Giving Schofield the sixth-round TKO victory. In the post-fight press conference, a satisfied but humble Kid Austin responded to questions about his sensational performance by saying "Everything I have, I got from my father"

19-year-old Phenom, Floyd Schofield, Fights For First Title

19-year-old Floyd "Kid Austin" Schofield, of Austin, Texas, sports a perfect 7-0 (6) knockout record. He's the crown jewel of Davies Entertainment Promotions and returns to the ring in San Antonio on Friday at the Davies Boxing and Fitness gym. He will fight for his first title, the NABF Junior Super-Featherweight strap. When he takes on Pedro Vicente-Scharbaai. The bout is a major step up for the Austinite. Vicente-Scharbaai sports a 7-3-1 record and went 8-rounds with Edison Garcia and fought the rugged veteran, Alexis Del Bosque to a draw. Certainly no slouch, however, given Schofield's immense talent it should go relatively smoothly.

At first sight, Schofield's hand speed captures your attention and the speed is lightning quick. However, it's not just speed, he is strong as a Brahma bull and has tremendous power. his speed and precision allow him to unload power shots, lead left hooks, right hands, and uppercuts from any angle, at any time. Offensively he's the complete package he throws in volume and with heavy hands. He is strong enough to maul his opponents and skilled and quick enough to light them up from the outside. He can seamlessly switch from his natural conventional stance to the southpaw stance and work the head and body. He is masterful at all three distances. On top of that his speed and head, movement makes him equally hard to hit. He can stand in the pocket or come forward and make you miss while he lands and lands with pinpoint accuracy. He is so quick and powerful it causes opponents to "shell up" and not fire back as they know that Schofield will fire back three shots in return.

In addition to immense skills and power Kid Austin already has a world champion pedigree and elite-level knowledge. He has been mentored by former three-division world champion Adrien Broner. He has sparred three rounds with world champion Devin Haney in a heated sparring session that saw Haney get buckled. He is clearly on a fast track to a world title.

The teenager from Austin, Texas last fought back on August 20th. He scored a knockdown a minute into the fight against  Roberto Almazan, of Matamoros Mexico. The quick knockdown was foreshadowing for what was about to come. Just a minute later he scored another knockdown courtesy of a thudding three-piece combination. A minute into the second stanza a right hand to the body followed by a right hand to the head, just for good measure, put  Almazan out for the count. Running Schofield's record to 7-0 (6). Schofield starts a new knockout streak, that he looks to continue Friday night in San Antonio. He won his first five fights all by way of stoppage before stepping in with rugged journeyman Darryl Hayes who stands up and goes the distance with everyone. He had been the distance with San Antonio Native and unbeaten prospect Javy Fernandez and Dallas-based Angel Alejandro in recent fights. So it's no knock that Schofield didn't get rid of Hayes. Schofield floored him and battered getting in good rounds and getting valuable experience on his way to a wide one-sided unanimous decision victory.

Austin, Texas, has produced some pretty good fighters in recent history. James Kirkland is the first name that comes to mind, he battled for a world title, headlines countless cards, including fighting Canelo at Minute Maid Park in Houston. He became a fan favorite with a massive following but never captured a world title. "Black Magic" Travell Mazion seemed well on his way to a world title until we tragically lost the 24-year-old last year. Kurtiss Colvin was highly touted but never got to the mountain top. However, Schofield the 19-year-old phenome seems destined for a world title. The skills and ability are all there at 19-year-olds and it appears Texas's capital city will sooner rather than later have a world champ.

Young Stable of Stars Set to Shine In San Antonio

San Antonio's boxing scene is absolutely on fire. Josh Franco just defended his version of the super flyweight title. Mario Barrios a former world champion was involved in the fight of the year and the Pay Per View extravaganza of the year. On top of that there are countless other Alamo City stars who are bursting onto the scene, Bam Rodriguez, Hector Tanajara, Ramon Cardenas, Rick Medina, "Goyo" Gregory Morales all call the Alamo City home.  Boxing is engrained into the fabric of San Antonio it's a fighting city composed of fighters. That goes for the stars mentioned above as well as the developing stars, the under-the-radar. hidden gems that are also at no shortage in San Antonio.

Cameron Davies, a San Antonian, who is famous for creating "Cruising Kitchens" designing and fabricating extravagant mobile Kitchens has put a major investment into some of these up-and-coming super prospects. Creating a state-of-the-art gym for them to train and sharpen their skills at, and is completely dedicated to putting on regular shows to build his fighter's records and prepare them to fight at the highest level. He has invested the time and money into building a stable of exciting young fighters who will have an opportunity to shine this Saturday at their home gym.

Davies's stable includes exciting featherweight knockout Artist "World Star" Henry Arredondo who sports a 7-1 record, who has been a major ticket seller in San Antonio for the past few years. Building up a quality resume that includes a highlight real of spectacular one-punch knockouts. Arredondo's lone career loss comes at the hands of Eros Correa, a dispute decision, that was originally announced for Arredondo, a decision that no one flinched at because everyone seemingly thought World Star was the rightful winner but was moments leader corrected and given to Correa. A decision that got a lot of attention from boxing media, because they seemed to have gotten it right the first time, among the vocal critics was two-time welterweight world champion "Showtime" Shawn Porter who on his podcast acknowledged he thought the San Antoninian had clearly won the fight.  Arredondo will look to bounce back from his lone career defeat against veteran Charles Clark.

Next up is Floyd Schofield who is known as " Kid Austin" is from Austin, Texas, and got his boxing start at  Richard Lord’s Boxing gym, which was home to the legendary fan favorite all-action James Kirkland.  Schofield, is more of a pure boxer and has lightning-quick reflexes and an equally as quick jab. he also packs surprising power as was on full display when he fought Ricardo Esquibel on Telemundo and ended his night just 1 minute and 40 seconds with a tremendous left hook that dropped Esquibel like a building imploding on itself that was aired live on Telemundo. Schofield sports a perfect 6-0 record and will take on  Roberto Almazan in a six-rounder on Saturday night.

Perhaps the crown jewel of Davies Entertainment's stable is the young former  Amateur standout and national champion the undefeated blue-chip featherweight prospect Xavier Nunez. Nunez, who hails from Corpus Christi,  sports a perfect  2-0 record, and despite still being a teenager has already fought on a major card and garnered national attentional. Nunez kicked off the Charlo-Castano undercard with a spectacular fourth-round stoppage of David Alfaro in the  AT&T Center in San Antonio. Corpus Christi has had a former world champion Jessie Benevidez who held the WBO Super bantamweight belt (from 91-92)  ad challenged for a world title in the featherweight division. The same division Nunez competes at.  A division former world title challenger and Corpus Christi native Jerry Belmontes can certainly win a world title at.
